iSMAC- Streetlight Monitoring and Control
Devices World’s iSMAC solution is an application of eMaintenance. In this use case, iSMAC is instrumental in reducing downtime, ensuring fast responses to failures.
Business Challenges
01
Lightning Triggered Circuit Breakers
Circuit breakers can be tripped by lightning, and there is no warning when certain areas fail, this could lead to power failures for weeks on end.
02
Uneven daylight hours
The hours of sunrise and sunset vary throughout the year.
• It is costly to alter the timing of turning on and off lights when using standard time.
• As a result, electricity is used inefficiently
03
Manual inspection of fuse failures
The fuse from streetlights fail from time to time, it would take significant manual effort to check each streetlight to see if the fuse failed or not.
Advantages of iSMAC
iSMAC is a more efficient and effective technique of street light and other public lighting facility maintenance.
MBSA: How iSMAC helped seamless monitoring for over 6000 streetlights

Due to its IoT based platform, the iSMAC solution does not require expensive software or licensing fees. Instead, it operates on an annual monitoring and maintenance fee that also includes a guarantee for the iSMAC equipment. Additionally, iSMAC is able to accurately provide lamp status without requiring individual lamp monitoring sensors, leading to a great reduction in the cost for the system.
In MBSA’s case, the iSMAC solution was able to be deployed at over 1,200 feeder pillars. Each feeder pillar will provide power to an average of 50 lamps.
Successful deployment of iSCADA in the mechanical and civil departments led to planned campus-wide deployment for managing the electrical distribution networks and other M&E facilities.
